My Source of Boldness

Hebrews 4:16 “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”

“In his hymn Arise My Soul Arise, John Wesley spoke of the power of a sight of Jesus’ blood. He counseled himself to ‘shake off his guilty fears’ and boldly approach the throne of grace. If we are not focused on Christ in prayer, we will be greatly hindered by feelings of guilt and unbelief. By concentrating our minds upon the blood and righteousness of Jesus Christ, we are overwhelmed by the fact that we are totally accepted by God. When we pray focused on our own merit, our prayers are not effective because none of us is righteous enough in ourselves to deserve so much as one answer to prayer. Quite simply, the more we look upon Christ, the more boldness we will have to come to God in faith. ‘Without faith it is impossible to please Him.'” – Source Unknown
