Proverbs 4:7 “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.”
Proverbs 16:17 “How much better is it to get wisdom than gold! and to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver!”
Proverbs 8:11 “For wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it.”
There are times when I read the Word of God and the truth to learn is so very plain and simple.
Get wisdom.
…and with all thy getting, get understanding.
Got it?
But I am also very practical – how do you ‘get’ wisdom?
James 1:5 “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.”
You can look all throughout the Bible, anyone who asked, received.
God places some parameters on how we should ask. So, you say, ‘Here comes the catch…’
James 1:6 “But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.”
Faith is the catalyst that sets it all in motion.
Hebrews 11:6 “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”
Solomon saw in his father, David, a life of faith that made the God of Heaven real. David trusted and believed that God would do what He said He would do. He was not ashamed, nor afraid. David instructed his son to follow after in faith.
He backed up his words with the account of how he defeated the giant; how he escaped death by Saul; how he defeated armies against impossible odds by just following the instructions given by God.
So… very simply this morning – How badly do you want and need the wisdom of God?
Ask.
Ask in faith – nothing wavering.
Then, teach someone else how… pay it forward!
