2 Chronicles 7:13-14 “If I shut up heaven that there be no rain, or if I command the locusts to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people; If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”
Many a revival has started or centered on these verses. Believing that God will keep His promise (and He does…), and we are meeting the conditions of the blessing, then there should be nothing stopping God from fulfilling IF we do our part.
Our part; 1. Make sure I am a child of God; 2. Humble myself; 3. Pray; 4. Seek His face; 5. Turn from my wicked ways or simply put:
I must be a child of God, humble, in communion with Him, seeking His will and not mine, and lastly, willing to repent from all things ungodly in my life. Then, God promises our prayers will be heard, forgiveness will be given and healing will come to our land.
America is literally, choking on her own filth… and no wonder. We have kicked God out of our schools; we call wrong right and right wrong; we sanction murder and call it a mother’s choice; every perverse lifestyle is to be protected and accepted, but a Christian standing for right is called “phobic” for pointing out what God says is an abomination.
Our government is weak and ungodly. Patriotism is at an all-time low. Morality is no longer in the majority and the news we have heard for years, has so shaped our thinking that our government is what will save us. Our justice system lacks the very thing it was created to employ – justice.
The church needs to awaken to the fact that we need God’s hand of healing upon our nation. We must realize that we, the church, will be the first ones to come under the hand of God’s judgment.
1 Peter 4:17 “For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?”
There has never been such a nation that has evangelized the world; that has been a lighthouse, a beacon of truth. Mission works and worldwide evangelization still go forth from our shores, but we are seeing that America, herself, has now become a mission field.
Salvation is free. We did no work whatsoever to attain it, we do no work to keep it. It is freely given and freely received. God planned it that way. His love never wains or diminishes. The favor of His love is not conditional on my behavior. We treat each other that way – but not God.
All blessings we receive from God have conditions that are needing to be met. It is the “If you will… I will” of God.
1 John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
Today, I am asking God for the clarity to see my sin as He does; confess with heartfelt repentance and take steps to allow Him to have more control over my decisions, my path, my words and my meditation.
I know that I am not all that I can be. But I am more than what I was. Because of His saving grace, I will never feel the flames of a fiery, eternal Hell. Because of that, I want to meet His conditions for blessing.
Thanks be to God for the victory I have in Jesus Christ!
