Saturday Morning Musings

Psalms 29:2Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.”

Many who read may be stopped by that very first word in our text today – Give.

In our world, we are more concerned with what we will get more than what we give. But many of us fail to realize just what we have been given in jesus Christ.

I have forgiveness of all my sins. That alone causes my heart to feel a great indebtedness. Any and every wrong ever committed or ever will commit is under the blood – forgiven and forgotten.

I have been adopted into God’s family. There are many whose experience of family is not the ‘Leave it to Beaver’ type of home. For those whose experience was not pleasant, as a child of God, I now have a Heavenly Father who said “… I will never leave thee nor forsake thee.”

I have a place being prepared for me to live forever in Heaven.

John 14:2-3In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.”

My place in God’s family is secure. For many, the only constant in their life is change. With God, His salvation is eternally secure because it is His promise to keep, not mine.

I think you are beginning to get the jist of what I am saying because the rest of that verse goes on to say “Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name…”

Because of what has been given for me, we are to give God the glory that is due Him. A heart that has truly repented of their unbelief and accepted Christ as their Savior begins to know and feel humbled by the immensity of what we have received.

I WILL thank my God early and often for what I have received in Christ. I WILL testify of the His transforming power that took me from the ‘mire to the choir’; from the guttermost to His uttermost. Thankfulness and an attitude of gratitude begins with perspective.

Summer is here and I just wanted today to begin with a verse that would set our hearts aright for all we wil see and do.

Take time to worship Him today. Set aside the busyness of your day to thank Him for all He has given us!
