Isaiah 53:5 “But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.”
Ever since I have been saved, my heart has been tender to the gospel. Everytime I tell it, my heart melts at the suffering my Savior took on for me.When I hear a testimony of a life redeemed, tears well up and I feel their joy at sins forgiven! When I hear of one lost without Christ and without hope, my heart melts knowing they too can be set free!
There are a few passages in scripture that hold my heart and take me to a place of humble thanksgiving. Here, in Isaiah 53, I find the prophecies of the suffering Savior. Every bit of what was predicted took place. And then, the Holy Spirit makes it personal.
“But he was wounded for Paul’s transgressions, he was bruised for Paul’s iniquities: the chastisement of Paul’s peace was upon him; and with his stripes Paul is healed.”
Please forgive me for taking liberties with the scripture, but to prove the point – He; Jesus Christ, did it all for me; and He did it all for you as well!
A simple thought this morning and I will not belabor it.
Read the crucifixion of John 19 and place yourself there at the foot of the cross where John stood.
Allow yourself to look upon that body so beaten, bruised and bloodied and think – He took all that for me!
Meditate on it.
Let it sink into your heart.
Picture the agony.
If I could stand it, could I look into His eyes and know He was doing this for me?
