Titus 2:11-14 “For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.”
Deny ungodliness and worldly lusts.
Quite an admonition and not one you hear every day.
Yet, if you and I were to take God at His Word and truly submit and obey what it is He wansts us to do, we would begin to see things in such a light that would cause us to pray with more fervor and urgency.
We think of ourselves far more highly than we should. We make light of sin. We justify our actions with comparison to greater sins of others and think, ‘I’m not as bad as so-and-so’.
And we wonder why it is we don’t hear from God, or see answers to prayers…
Dear reader, let us stop the insanity. We keep the same routine thinking something will change. Would today that we would come before the throne of grace to first and foremost ask for the cleansing we so desperately need. Then, to empty ourselves of all but Him and wcome to services this morning hungry to hear from God.
The only way for you and I to truly live soberly, righteously and holy in this present day and age, is to allow God to live through us. He cannot when we are filled with the worldly, ungodly and carnal things of this world. We fool ourselves thinking;
“If I just get through this, it will all get better”
When in fact, it slowly spirals out of control. Until either the destruction becomes catastrophic or we humble ourselves before a Holy God, we will never see the beginnings of what God can truly do in our lives.
Let today be the difference maker in this day and the weeks to follow. Come empty hungering to be filled. Come cleansed by the Word of God and willing to obey whatever it is He says through your man of God – your pastor today.
Acts 2:47-48 “And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.”
Daily God added because they were faithful witnesses daily.
So, let us prepare on Sunday for what we truly need to be on Monday. Let God speak truth on the inward parts and allow the blood of Jesus Christ to flow into all the nooks and crannies of our soul to fully, wholly, and totally cleanse us.
Then, let us testify and share what God did to praise Him and give Him the glory!
