Lamentations 3:22-23 “It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.”
I can remember back when I first read this passage.
I thought, “Lord, does that mean you will never run out of mercy for me?”
Even when I am weary of those who struggle to get victory, or sin against me, God never wearies or tires of extending His mercy toward us. Though He may have to give more than what we feel we deserve, every day finds that His mercy toward me is renewed.
I am so thankful God is not like us in that regard.
I have failed those closest to me countless times, and I am sure they weary of my constant failures.
We extend mercy conditionally, God does not.
We run out of patience, longsuffering, and time with others, but love the fact that God will NEVER run out of mercy for us!
Oh, that we would ask God for His mercy to be given through us for others.
When we grow weary and tired of being sinned against, failed expectations, wounded or worse; may we who name the name of Jesus be able to allow God to extend His mercy and grace through us to others – even when we don’t feel like it or fail to be the spiritual one in the relationship.
Every morning should be given to at least a prayer of thanksgiving for the mercy of God which, to us, is renewed every single day!
