Sunday Soothings

Ezekiel 22:30And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.”

If a call went out today for a man who would stand for God against any and all that would oppose, would we volunteer?

Understandably, there would be a cost; possibly even death. But having full knowledge that we would be facing a vicious, cruel death, would you stand?

The martyrs of old saw the end and still entered into the flames.

I have known for a long time that God wants those who will simply obey Him – no matter where it leads them.

Most are satisfied with what could be called “part-time christianity”.

We choose the time and days we serve. We choose the depth of committment. We choose the length of the journey and when it gets to be too much or too long, we quit.

God paid the ultimate price to redeem my soul. It was a price I could never repay. I then became His purchased possession.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.”

We falsely assume that we have control over our destiny. Yes, my free will exercised against God’s will gives me a second option, but, why would I choose what is second best for my life when I can have the best?

God’s call for that man to do His will today still goes out to us.

He needs ushers, sunday school teachers, security, nursery workers, greeters, nursing home workers, ones to visit the sick and homebound. He needs those who will care for the church grounds, the church building and type the letters, the bulletins and the sermon outlines.

God needs those who will be like Aaron and Hur to hold up their pastor’s hands in prayer as they preach, teach and minister to the flock of God.

Would to God we would go to services today with an open heart; clean and ready to hear the Holy Spirit. Then, be unhindered in our obedience to fulfill that which God desires.

Just think what the church of God could do if everyone of His children operated in obedience to His will and His Word?
