Zechariah 14:9 “And the LORD shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one LORD, and his name one.”
Often, when I read the prophecies of the Word of God, I feel as though they are for someone else; for another people, another time. It is then I must awaken out of my slumber to realize that it is for me – it is for today.
I was told once that there were thirty prophecies fulfilled with Christ’s death on the cross. The probability and statistics of just one is astronomical; but thirty? He gave this illustration:
‘The likelihood of thirty prophecies being fulfilled in one man on one day is like taking two atoms and somehow marking them. Then, take one and throw it in the Pacific Ocean and the other in the Atlantic Ocean and having them meet somewhere in the middle.’
Yes, ‘impossible’ is the same word I would use as well. Only my God can do the impossible.
So, with what is left in the Word of God to yet be fulfilled: we have the second coming of Christ and the rapture of the church, the seven-year tribulation, the battle of Armaggedon, the millenial reign of Christ on this earth, the final battle with Satan and then the New Heaven and the New earth come down.
With all that is going on in the world today, I cannot see how anyone could not feel the helplessness or even the hopelessness of righting this ship. I can see how in the days of Noah that the heart of man thought of only sin continually. The corruption on all levels of government. The uprisings of factions that take over, oppress; even rape and pillage are happening at an alarming rate.
This evil is not lurking in the shadows anymore. It is bold and blatant. It is prideful and powerful. Much of the world has shaken God as dust from their shoes and haven’t turned back. We are on the cusp of outlawing christianity in our country where its government was founded on godly principles and has enjoyed freedom and liberty for over 200 years.
We can cower and fear and wring our hands over the evil we seemingly cannot change. But faith must rise up to take the challenge. Satan has seemingly thrown the gauntlet down and said; “I dare you to defy me!”
If every one of the prophecies of the Bible have come to pass so far, there is no reason to doubt that the rest will come to pass as well. Our faith must stand firm with a resolve not to move – ever.
I am part of a generation who could very well hear a trumpet sound and in an instant; the twinkling of an eye, be caught up in the clouds to be with the Lord forever! There is not one other prophecy needing to be fulfilled for that to happen.
So, what is left for us to do?
John 4:35 “Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.”
Luke 10:2 “Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.”
With the firm assurance that our salvation is settled, we must tell any and all who will hear the most wonderful news ever told another human being – that Jesus can save their soul from the fires of an eternal Hell.
It takes an act of faith to be a witness for Christ. But, it is so much easier to tell of something in which I have partaken, than of something from which I have no knowledge.
My salvation was June 18th, 1990 – over 28 years ago. Yet, it is still as fresh today as it was back then.
I tell the story over and over to any and all that will hear. I preach it from the pulpit, to my Sunday school class. But also to the one across the gasoline pump, the cashier at the grocery store, to my coworkers and to my unsaved family members.
I find that the more I tell it, the more wonderful it becomes because it now becomes real to them!
I go out today with my son and my grandson to hand out ‘cards’ as Liam calls them; cards about Jesus. It is not our job to coerce, cajole, smooth-talk or sell them anything. It is our job to warn; and should God open the door for us to tell the good news – Wonderful!
Should He further allow us to lead them to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, we then become part of a miracle! Truly it is only God that can bring about the increase… But we must do our part.
Many of us never looked forward to Mom and Dad coming home when we failed to do as we were instructed. But when we did our best and accomplished all we were told to do, we wanted them to see; we wanted them to know just how hard we worked to get done that which we were asked.
Jesus Christ IS coming again – will you be ready to meet Him?
