He Knows My Name

Acts 19:15And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye?”

As I have become more ‘chronologically gifted’, I find there are more folks who know my name where I have no idea what’s their name. Because I speak publically, there are those whom God has touched with words I may have spoken. I have sung with the Faithmen Quartet for close to fifteen years and our music has literally been played around the world.

Daily Manna has gone out for over two years. In our first year, people from 24 countries visited our site and read our blog. This year, we have more than doubled that number. But I do not boast in the circulation or readership of what is written here – it all goes to the glory of God. I say it only to point out how easily our name can spread with this electronic age we live in.

My point is simply this: there are those who may know of me, but being known as a child of God far outweighs any title or accolade I may attain.

Here, in our text, we find some ‘copycats’ who seeing Paul cast out demons, try to do the same. They are bold, yet ignorant.

2 Timothy 3:1-5This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.”

There are supernatural powers far greater than you or I. Our enemy possesses power greater than we do in our flesh. But, when I come in the power and fullness of the Lord Jesus Christ and filled with the Holy Spirit, I am promised victory. Every time the devil met Paul on the battlefield for souls, he was put to the worse.

To be known by your enemy is a great honor. To know that they respect your position, your power and recognize you as a worthy opponent; an adversary that deserves notice is quite a statement.

Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye?”

Satan’s MO, or ‘modus operandi‘ is distraction, deception, division and destruction. He is relentless in his attacks on God’s people. Not till we go home to glory and he is cast into the lake of fire will it all be finally over. So, until that time, you and I are in the battle for our life.

God tells us:

2 Corinthians 2:10-11 “To whom ye forgive any thing, I forgive also: for if I forgave any thing, to whom I forgave it, for your sakes forgave I it in the person of Christ; Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.”

If we choose to remain ignorant, uninformed, and disengaged from the battle, we will ultimately become a casualty. Many cower in the face of adversity because they are ignorant of who they are as a child of God. Our Heavenly Father would not have said:

Romans 8:37-39Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

As a child of God, I am promised a home Heaven. My Savior’s love for me is eternal; everlasting; unending and infinite. His love is not dependent upon what I do for Him; He loves me unconditionally. But I am also called to be a soldier in the battle for the souls of men.

Do not fear what you have yet to experience. We all hesitate before engaging in something we have never done before. I am commanded by the One who created me; who knows me through and through.

I have been in the presence of demon-possessed people. I can’t say as I want to go looking for those opportunities. But I do know that when they present themself – it has been approved of my Heavenly Father to step onto that battlefield with Him. What God commands, He equips and empowers.

Do not fear to be known of your enemy. It means you are headed in the right direction and you are doing something that God will not leave you helpless.
