1 Corinthians 9:27 “But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.”
Castaway. A term to which I think we can all relate.
Many of us have felt the sting of being once close to a person only to be thrown over for another. Some have felt the dejection of being let go from a job. Still others pushed away by a group of people you felt an integral part.
But to allow yourself to slip in an area that you are teaching others how to live seems unthinkable. Yet, while preaching the truth to others, my own personal life can literally be destroyed if I do not practice what I preach.
I have adopted a principle that I will not write Daily Manna unless God has spoken to me first. It was a principle I had to adhere to because there was a time that I had drifted in my heart and what I was preaching/teaching was directed to me.
I came under extreme conviction because of the truth. My eyes were opened as to how far I had drifted.
This holiday season, our schedules get filled so quickly we neglect much to just get through. Typically, it is the most important that goes first – prayer and Bible reading. We tell ourselves we’ll get to it later. Later comes and blows us right into next week.
Purpose to keep track of your Bible reading to ensure you complete what you set out to do; finish what you started. Set an appointment with you and God in your calendar and keep it with diligence.
