Never More Separated
Romans 8:35-39 “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
This is one of my favorite passages in the Word of God. The comfort and peace it brings to my soul is wonderful! Whenever I feel out of sorts and my heart is wounded or troubled, I come to this passage and allow its truth to sink in.
It says to me; ‘No matter what storms I face; no matter what I feel; no matter how far I’ve gone or what sins I may have committed; there is absolutely NOTHING that can separate me from my God!’
There are some that turn this truth on its edge by asking – “Does that mean I can do whatever I want and still go to Heaven?” and though the possibility certainly exists; because of the truth also contained in this very same chapter – the indwelling of the Holy Spirit of God will convict my heart of its wickedness.
I have seen some of those who name the name of the Lord Jesus Christ do some of the most foolish, most hideous of sins, IF they are saved, they have the same promise of Heaven secured eternally as I do. Our actions do not, in any way, determine our destiny. Otherwise, it would fall in the category of ‘works salvation’. Whether it was working to obtain it, or working to keep it.
Romans 10 contains a truth that sets the foundation for all believers.
Romans 10:17 “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
Anyone and everyone MUST come to God by and through the scriptures – so says GOD!
Any faith and all faith is grounded and rooted in the Word of God. I may have a unique thought that seems to open up all sorts of possibilities; but unless it is backed up by scripture, it falls short of the truth.
Secure in my faith that is grounded in the Word of God. Our relationship with the Word of God is even more vital in this day and age. It has long surpassed any book written for longevity, accuracy, and most read. Like it, leave it or believe it; God’s Word has withstood the test of time.
Those that have set out to disprove it have either been defeated, disappointed or made to believe. It is powerful. It contains promises for today. There are no other words that have touched me so deeply, nor changed me so completely!
Just as I am secure in my salvation, I have secured my faith and will hold to the Word of God – for life!
