Saturday Morning Musings

Revelation 6:15-17And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?”

“I never saw it coming…”

This statement will only be true if we, who are saved, are silent.

This morning I read chapters 6-11 in the Book of Revelation. My heart ached as I began to think that there are people I know and love who will suffer the fate of those chronicled in those pages. If they do not get saved, it could be my grandchildren, my sisters or brother, my aunts and uncles, my neighbors or coworkers.

For some of us, it could be our children, our spouses, or even worse – ourselves if we do not take earnest heed to the warnings contained in this book. For those who choose to deny the existence of God, neglect the evidence, and ignore the warnings; you will fully receive all that these chapters contain… and even worse – an eternity in the lake of fire.

What you choose to do with the truth is up to you. You can deny that it is truth; that God is no god and does not exist. I have always wondered how, when Christians issue a warning such as the one today, are met with sometimes such vehement rebuttals from a crowd who doesn’t even believe that any god, let alone Almighty God – the God of the Bible  – could even exist or do such a thing to humanity.

If He doesn’t exist, why do you fight so hard to deny His existence to others?

God promises:

Philippians 2:9-11Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

Like it or not, you will bow.

Believe Him or not, you will bow.

If all that I hold dear as a Christian is fairy tales and fiction, why do others fight so to deny it’s existence? Why do they seek to deny, disprove, discredit or even destroy Someone who altered the way we mark time (BC to AD)? One whose life so literally tranforms others? Miracles that cannot be explained any other way but the hand of God?

To deny it means that you will incur the consequences of that decision. Cause and effect happens whether we feel we have control or not. We fool ourselves into thinking we have control of this life. If so, stop yourself from getting sick, having a heart attack or getting old. Try though we may, we will ALL will grow old and die – if something else doesn’t kill us first.

There is only one escape.
