Proverbs 8:32-36 “Now therefore hearken unto me, O ye children: for blessed are they that keep my ways. Hear instruction, and be wise, and refuse it not. Blessed is the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors. For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the LORD. But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul: all they that hate me love death.”
IQ or intelligence quotient is the measurement of the intelligence of the human brain.
Wisdom is the right use of that intelligence.
When put into a biblical or spiritual reference, wisdom becomes the ability to see things as God intended.
The Bible tells me that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Having the right view of authority in my life is key to being blessed of God.
Knowing I am created in the likeness and image of God is no small thing. No other creature known or unknown is like unto us. When we consider the vastness of the universe and our part in it, we seem so minuscule; so insignificant.
Psalm 8:3-4 “When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?”
The fact that God even takes note of our existence, let alone desires a relationship with us is utterly amazing. The fact that I can be blessed and obtain favor of God is fantastic as well.
“…for blessed are they that keep my ways. Hear instruction, and be wise, and refuse it not.”
Simple obedience. Obedience and the ability to be teachable.
Often, it is not ignorance that keeps us from being blessed. We are held from blessing because we want our way more than we want God’s way. We know what is right. We just want our version of right more than God’s.
Today, I could take the time and saturate this blog with the scripture to convince you that God’s way is always best to be blessed. Trusting by faith that the One who created us knows what is best for us and desires to draw close to us creates within me a desire to draw near to Him; to please Him; to do what He has planned for my life.
In so doing, I am promised that He will not only bless me but, also guide, guard and protect me… what’s not to like?
Oh dear reader, seek Him while He may be found. He is worth every ounce of energy you might spend to get to Him. Consider this:
James 4:7-8 “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.”
My enemy will flee when I submit AND in drawing nigh to God, He will draw close to me!
I call that a win-win!
