Jeremiah 33:14-16 “Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will perform that good thing which I have promised unto the house of Israel and to the house of Judah. In those days, and at that time, will I cause the Branch of righteousness to grow up unto David; and he shall execute judgment and righteousness in the land. In those days shall Judah be saved, and Jerusalem shall dwell safely: and this is the name wherewith she shall be called, The LORD our righteousness.”
Jehovah-Tsidkenu, or the Lord our Righteousness.
The joy and rejoicing that we have as saved children of God, is evident in the character of the One we trust to be saved.
Our righteousness is nothing to glory in;
Isaiah 64:6 “But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.”
But the pure, perfect righteousness of God is ours for the asking. It has been promised of old and fulfilled in Jesus Christ.
One of the greatest times of prayer is praising my God for who He is and what has been imputed to me through Jesus Christ. Any and all things I may claim as righteous, are as the putrified rags that would wipe the pus from an oozing wound of a leper.
Please excuse the gross explanation, but God gives to us the contrast for us to see clearly that we cannot ever attain Heaven or a relationship with God on our own. Christ and Christ alone is all you and I need to obtain the righteousness to enter Heaven.
Take time away from this day to thank Him for all that you have received!
