Luke 4:41 “And devils also came out of many, crying out, and saying, Thou art Christ the Son of God. And he rebuking them suffered them not to speak: for they knew that he was Christ.”
The devils knew who Jesus was.
Mark 14:61-64 “But he held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, and said unto him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed? And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven. Then the high priest rent his clothes, and saith, What need we any further witnesses? Ye have heard the blasphemy: what think ye? And they all condemned him to be guilty of death.”
The Pharisees did not.
You and I can now have the whole counsel of God in our hands. If you have a King James Bible, you hold what contains every word that God intended you and I to possess. It is the bread by which we are to live.
Matthew 4:4 “But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.”
It is the testimony of God preserved throughout the ages.
Psalm 12:6-7 “The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.”
Psalm 119:89 “LAMED. For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven.”
Matthew 5:18 “For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.”
Matthew 24:35 “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.”
Think back to the first passage – in the presence of Jesus and those around Him, many devils were commanded to come out and when they did, they confessed to all around that He, Jesus, was the Christ. They were bound by the authority over them to obey.
So, this morning God spoke to my heart saying: “If it is recorded that the devils confessed that this man, Jesus, was the Christ, the Son of God, how is it that we who read, have such difficulty in believing?”
I cannot help but think what it was like to be there in that day. The spiritual warfare that took place on a daily basis. Many eyes were blinded, hearts darkened, and ears stopped from hearing the truth.
Jesus told them plainly who He was.
His works testified of that fact. No man could do the miracles Jesus did.
Nicodemus, a Pharisee, came to Jesus under the cover of night to ask Him;
John 3:2 “The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.”
Later, we see Nicodemus come out into the open as testimony of his trusting Jesus as his personal Savior.
John 19:39 “And there came also Nicodemus, which at the first came to Jesus by night, and brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about an hundred pound weight.”
He came with Joseph of Arimathaea, to prepare Jesus body for burial. They brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes to anoint His body. This was done in the sight of everyone present. Word would have gotten round what he did.
Today, we have creation as our witness. We have historical writings; both spiritual and secular, testifying of Jesus’ existence. We have the Word of God. Yet, man still pushes it aside for their favorite flavor of the day belief.
We see in the news, people’s pictures of clouds thinking it looks like Jesus. They flock to see so-called ‘miracles’ of statues weeping, faces in rock formations, and so many other things that seem to stretch beyond our imagination. Yet, the clarity of Christ’s testimony still stands as plain as day.
What will you do with Jesus?
It is the question every person must answer before they die.
Deny Him, push Him aside, or try to disprove His existence will bring you face to face with Him as your Judge one day.
Believe Him, trust Him and live your life for Him and one day, we will be accepted into Heaven as His child.
Too simple? Too easy?
Answer for yourself as to what it is that stops you from 100% full and total belief in the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior. If, for any reason, you do not have that settled, please read this and trust Him today!
And, if you truly do believe; where do stop in your belief to accomplish all that God wants you to do for Him?
Do you read His Word daily? Do you pray? Do you hear Him as He speaks? When was the last time you can testify of an answered prayer or a step of faith you have taken?
Challenge yourself to go beyond what the devils already knew – Jesus is the Christ; the Son of the Living God.
They gave testimony to all around them – do those in your neighborhood know you are a born-again Christian?
Does your family know and have they heard you tell them how they can know?
What of your coworkers? Have they heard you give testimony of your faith?
The cashier at the checkout? The bank teller? The mechanic who works on your car? Have they heard? Do they know?
Prepare yourself for the day. Take a gospel tract with you. Challenge yourself to give away one each day. In doing so, you will be preparing yourself for that day when we will meet our Savior face to face.
