Proverbs 26:4-5 “Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest thou also be like unto him. Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in his own conceit.”
Verses such as these that give intellectuals fits.
They say God contradicts Himself.
“Do I answer the fool or not?”
I learned a straightforward explanation for these verses that have helped me on more than one occasion.
Think of it this way…
The fool is like a skunk. When you wrestle with a skunk; whether you win or lose, you still stink. Engaging in conversation with one who is a fool will not end well. To try to win an argument will be difficult at best and damaging to your testimony at worst.
Man tries so hard to pigeonhole God into some neat package that has limits and boundaries that can be understood by most, if not all, men. But God gives a clear definition of that notion.
Isaiah 55:8-9 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
Romans 11:33 “O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!”
The foolishness of man tries to place limitations on a God who is All-knowing (Omniscient); All-powerful (Omnipotent); and everywhere all at the same time (Omnipresent) by making statements such as this:
If God can do anything, can He make a rock that is impossible for Him to lift?
This and other circular arguments try to cast a bad light on God, and seek to limit His deity, or defame His Name. It is sheer and utter pride to think that I could ever figure out all there is to know about the Sovereign God of Creation.
A group of scientists came to God and boldly proclaimed that they have discovered a way to create life from the nothing; just like He did with Adam; and challenged Him to a contest. As they stood facing one another, God said: “Let’s see how you can make life.” They reached down to grab some dirt, and God stopped them and said; “You can’t use that, make your own dirt.”
It is a funny anecdote and makes for good sermon material, but the truth of it is powerful enough. All that we see and know to be our reality was spoken into existence by Almighty God. He holds it all together.
Colossians 1:16-17 “For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.”
Instead of accepting the existence of God, man tries to disprove His existence. I find it genuinely humorous to think how adamantly the atheist will fight against those of us who believe in the existence of God when the very definition of an atheist is one who denies or disbelieves the existence of any supreme being.
How can you fight something that you declare does not exist?
The reason we are confused is that we lack the wisdom and understanding to see things correctly. In the end, we shall all come to know and believe what God said in His Word all along.
One day, all will bow before Jesus.
Philippians 2:9-11 “Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
Everyone from Lucifer to Voltaire, Nero to Hitler, and from Darwin to Anton LaVey; all will bow before the throne of Jesus Christ and declare Him to be Lord of all. There will be no doubt or confusion then.
The very limitations of my own mind do not justify placing boundaries or limitations on a God who is limitless.
You and I are created beings. We are made in the likeness and image of God Himself. No other creature in the known universe can compare to how we are made. It will all be made known in the end. But if you are not prepared for it, that end will be Hell.

There is no reason to be confused, to doubt, or to worry. God already knows our future and has a way for us to travel. He has already made every provision for you and me to be with Him in Heaven.
