Proverbs 28:14 “Happy is the man that feareth alway: but he that hardeneth his heart shall fall into mischief.”
The cure to avoiding a hard heart is to always fear God.
But, we see it is our choice; we do not become a victim of a hard heart.
What you and I see and watch affects the softness or how hard heart our heart will become.
Lamentations 3:51 “Mine eye affecteth mine heart because of all the daughters of my city.”
David knew just how powerful his eyes were in the influence of his heart.
Psalm 101:2-3 “I will behave myself wisely in a perfect way. O when wilt thou come unto me? I will walk within my house with a perfect heart. I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me.”
I have truly had to re-evaluate what it is I watch; whether it be regular television, or movies on Netflix, or Prime. Almost every movie made today breaks all of the ten commandments. I have challenged myself and I leave it with you, dear reader, to mark how many of the ten commandments are broken in the movies we watch.
If our eyes affect our heart, surely our ears follow in a close second.
Listening to someone curse God and use His name in vain will not and cannot help our spirit. Watching defrauding, lying, cheating, murder, adultery, and immorality play out before our eyes will only pull us away from God.
When we begin to find that we can control our own spirit by what goes into our eyes and ears, we will begin to see and feel better. Then, possibly, it won’t take the pastor or preacher of our church so long to affect our hearts with the Word of God.
We can then come prepared to hear a blessing; look for others to whom we can be a blessing, and find what God has for me in the coming week. Those in our home will see how God affects us for good and see us living out the type of Christianity preached from the pulpit.
They do not expect perfection – only constancy.
Today, take on thing from what you will hear and try to live it out this week. you will go much further in your walk with the Lord when you do!
