Psalm 130:5-6 “I wait for the LORD, my soul doth wait, and in his word do I hope. My soul waiteth for the Lord more than they that watch for the morning: I say, more than they that watch for the morning.”
Faith is the anchor for the soul that trusts in God, and hope is the chord that binds it.
1 Peter 5:7 “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.”
Joel 3:16 “The LORD also shall roar out of Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the heavens and the earth shall shake: but the LORD will be the hope of his people, and the strength of the children of Israel.”
In our lives, the busyness of life and the stress of it weigh upon our soul daily. Unless we have a plan to manage our day and keep stress at bay, we will succumb to the pressure. Then, fear, doubt, and worry enter.
Hope is not just some ‘pie-in-the-sky’ desire, like “I hope I win the lottery.”
Real hope is when we place our expectation in the One who’s promise is sure.
Faith, real faith, is believing that He is who He says He is and that He keeps His promises. over the years, my faith has been made sure because I have gathered evidence that supports my belief. That evidence comes through humble submission to His will – not mine.
Salvation is a gift that, when opened, allows the possessor to become a child of the King of Kings, a joint-heir with Jesus Christ, and the purchased possession of the God of Heaven. My Father has given the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity, to dwell in me.
John 14:16-17 “And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.”
He seals me until the day of redemption.
Ephesians 4:30 “And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.“
I am promised an answer to my prayers.
Luke 11:9-10 “And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.”
Being born again, I now have a lineage, a heritage. I am protected.
Isaiah 54:17 “No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.”
I have One that will fight for me. I have an Advocate.
1 John 2:1-2 “My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.”
As a child of God, I am privileged to know that He knows who I am.
John 10:27 “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:”
I have assurance that the mustard seed of faith that I placed in the finished work of Jesus Christ, has given me promises from the One who never lies, never fails, and is faithful.
Philippians 1:6 “Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:”
God has settled for me, the greatest fear of any man – where will I go when I die?
2 Corinthians 5:6-8 “Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord: (For we walk by faith, not by sight:) We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.”
I have been given the very promise of Jesus Christ that I will live with Him in Heaven. He is preparing a place for me and is expecting me.
John 14:1-3 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.”
I am told what it is I should trust and in whom I should place my hope and how I should live.
Matthew 4:4 “But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.”
Psalm 130:5 “I wait for the LORD, my soul doth wait, and in his word do I hope.”
Taking God at His Word, I can have hope. That hope lives and has grown more profound and more beautiful every day. As I take steps each day, closer and closer to the time I will step off into glory and leave this world behind, I carry with me a blessed hope that when my eyes close in death, they will open in His presence.
Titus 2:13 “Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;”
It may be that the trump will sound and I will be taken from this world in an instant. It may be that my body will give out before that happens. Either way, I am assured of my place in Heaven.
Ephesians 2:6 “And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:”
1 Thessalonians 4:16-18 “For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.”
