Proverbs 21:2 “Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the LORD pondereth the hearts.”
My preacher reminds us often:
Because we read what is right, do right, and think right, we must remind ourselves that that doesn’t mean we are always right about everything.
I find that I cannot give pat answers to those who are struggling because they may need some special handling or care. Just because it worked for me or worked for others doesn’t mean it will work for all.
God’s Word is so utterly amazing!
When studying, you find that there is one interpretation, but many applications. It is in those many applications that I must tread softly, and listen for the voice of the Holy Spirit and discern that it is genuinely His voice.
Once I know that it is what God wants, I can go forth confidently, assured that He is with me. I often return, to the example of David. He knew he was God’s anointed to lead His people. He knew the power and presence of His God. You cannot read the Psalms and not feel like this man knew God intimately.
In Psalm 139, we hear David boldly proclaim his hatred for those that opposed God.
Psalm 139:21-22 “Do not I hate them, O LORD, that hate thee? and am not I grieved with those that rise up against thee? I hate them with perfect hatred: I count them mine enemies.”
Many stop here and take up their Bibles and beat others over the head with what they feel is righteous anger. But David takes us one step further.
Psalm 139:23-24 “Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.”
Allowing God to touch the innermost part of us; that part, we rarely show and conceal before the general populous. To be transparent before God and let Him touch all parts within makes us vulnerable, exposed, and fragile.
It is then that we must reassure ourselves that my God loves me deeper and far more than any living creature. He created me and knew the innermost workings of my heart and life.
His love for me is unconditional and everlasting.
His mercy never runs out.
His grace is sufficient.
He is preparing a place for me to live with Him forever.
I have promises and the power to face anything the enemy will throw at me.
I have armor to protect me.
I have His Word to comfort and guide me.
I am His child.
He will never leave me nor forsake me.
I have no need in my life that will goes unmet.
Take these promises into your day today. Look up the scripture that supports each one and recite them until your head and your heart agree.
You are an Overcomer!
