Psalm 14:1 “To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.”
I am amazed at the lengths one will go to deny the existence of God.
All one would have to do is travel out to the country at night, away from the city lights and look up. Providing it is a clear sky; you would see a multitude of stars. The fact that ancient mariners were guided by these same stars to reach specific destinations dissolves any theory that this was the result of a chaotic explosion.
God answered Job in the form of questions.
Job 38:31-33 “Canst thou bind the sweet influences of Pleiades, or loose the bands of Orion? Canst thou bring forth Mazzaroth in his season? or canst thou guide Arcturus with his sons? Knowest thou the ordinances of heaven? canst thou set the dominion thereof in the earth?”
We could ask similar questions:
What keeps the tides from overrunning their shore? Who tells the birds to migrate? Or the salmon to spawn? Who holds the clock on the seasons? How does one explain the symbiosis in nature or the miraculous healing of the human body? What keeps my heart beating? How does my mind work?
Once again, God answers us:
Colossians 1:16-17 “For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.”
The questions become infinite as you look deeper into life here on earth and beyond. But when you eliminate God, or the existence of a god, man then becomes the center of the discussion.
To deny the existence of God or any god for that matter is to declare yourself to be a god – the master of your universe and creator of your own destiny.
There are those whose testimony was this; they set out to disprove the existence of God only to become a believer in the end. Josh McDowell (Evidence that Demands a Verdict) was one. Lee Strobel (The Case for Christ) another.
One can get so caught up in the arguments that life passes without making a decision. For some, it then becomes too late to find out the truth. And the truth is, you WILL bow before Almighty God and confess that He is Lord.
Romans 14:11-12 “For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.”
Philippians 2:9-11 “Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
Some go to great lengths in their denial. Even denying the existence of a literal Hell. A famous evangelist once said;
“You won’t be in Hell five seconds before you believe there is one.”
To take the gamble between belief apart from God in a place called Hell where there is an eternal fire, weeping, wailing, and gnashing of teeth, versus an eternity in Heaven seems rather foolish. You only get one chance to make it right.
There is no karma, levels of life that we travel through, no path to Nirvana. There is no middle earth, purgatory, or traveling between worlds. These are things created by God’s adversary, the devil. Who, by the way, lived in the very presence of God before he thought himself to be equal with God and desired to be worshipped as God.
Isaiah 14:12-15 “How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.”
You choose to partner with the devil himself when you depart from God’s truth to form your own. People who are saved, children of God, are not immune to such thinking. Though saved from eternal punishment in Hell for the sins we commit, we can decide to depart from God’s will and way for our lives because we have free will.
But having tasted of the goodness of God, and transformed by God into a new creature, we now have to submit or contend with the Holy Spirit in us. We either resist or obey that which He tells us. We are still given a choice.
I applaud those of you who have yet to believe for having read this far. Click here to read what God says about your eternal soul. If you are saved, we must continually learn, study, and be challenged to answer the hope that is in us. Hosea says:
Hosea 4:6 “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge…“
Paul admonished Timothy:
2 Timothy 2:15 “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”
