In Fear

John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

Freedom.

That word espouses many thoughts across many venues. Financial, social, governmental, and religious. Across our world today, we see the many levels of freedom allowed. In comparison, we can only use the Word of God to find out what true freedom is.

With recent events, we have all been exposed to restrictions of gatherings and movement because of the possible spread of COVID-19, or the coronavirus. The country of Italy has shut down. Many more countries are contemplating further measures to stop the spread through travel restrictions and the number of people gathering at any given time.

The media coverage and publicity are unprecedented.

As a child of God, we must approach this with a perspective of the freedom given in Jesus Christ. Follow this train of thought.

All of us will die of something.

We may die of old age, cancer, heart attack, disease, accident, or violence. There are numerous ways life leaves our body, but one thing is for sure – all will die. It is inescapable.

Only God knows the appointed time for me to die.

Moses died according to the word of the Lord. So will we all.

Deuteronomy 34:5 So Moses the servant of the LORD died there in the land of Moab, according to the word of the LORD.”

When we die, we will spend eternity in one of two places; Heaven or Hell.

For the saved, born-again, child of God, the promise of the Word of God is Heaven.

For those unsaved, unbelievers who refuse to accept Jesus Christ as their personal Savior, Hell awaits.

Most believers agree that we are in the end times.

Since Israel became a nation, no fulfillment of prophecy is needed before the second coming of Christ. We are awaiting the trumpet that will sound to call all God’s children to Heaven with Him.

End-time prophecies predict worldwide epidemics (pestilence). In Matthew 24:3-31, Jesus tells His disciples of the end times and what will come.

Matthew 24:7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.”

Our God is Sovereign.

Knowing that my God is in control no matter the news tells me, or the government wishes to impose, my God knows what I need and instructs me what I need to do.

Our enemy will try to keep us from doing what we have been left to do here on this earth.

We must witness to every living soul to give them the opportunity to trust Christ as their personal Savior. Because we know this:

John 8:36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.”

In Christ, we can be free from the fear that grips us when situations and circumstances come upon us.

Matthew 10:31 Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.”

2 Timothy 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”

If we, who are saved, give in to the fear and hysteria of current events, we could miss the grand opportunity to use it for His glory. Ask someone this question;

“If you were to contract this deadly virus and die, would you be sure you’re going to Heaven, or do you have some doubt?”

Their answer to that question is telling.

Anything but a resounding “Yes,” will reveal their belief or unbelief in Christ. Then, the door is open to tell the good news how they can know for sure they are going to Heaven when they die.

1 John 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.”

It is not a conditional promise made by a God with conditional love for His creation. His love and His promise of that love is based on one thing – belief in the redeeming work of His Son, Jesus Christ.

If you have become absorbed with the events of the day and found that they have caused you to be removed from being an active witness for the Savior, think again on the points made here today.

Fear will paralyze us if we allow it. The only fear we are to have is a healthy, respectful fear of our God.

We must be aware of the fear that the unsaved around us are feeling.

Tell them of the coming Savior and His saving grace. Tell them how to know for sure, they will go to Heaven when they die. Tell them your story or send this link for them to read for themselves.

DISCLAIMER: It is not advocated here to disregard any or all of the directives of our authority. We, as children of God, must submit to our power as directed by the scriptures. You must make individual decisions based on your health to be a good steward of your body that has been purchased by the blood fo the Lord Jesus Christ.
