Resurrection Sunday

Luke 24:3-7 And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus. And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in shining garments: And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee, Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.”

Good Morning dear reader!

I would like to wish all a very blessed Resurrection Sunday!

Many think Easter is a day on the Christian calendar, or an event that took place. But today, as we are relegated to stay in our homes, today is going to be different for all of us.

We won’t be able to wear our Sunday best to church. We are kept from family gatherings, egg hunts, and worshipping together. But, what you and I will do today matters.

In just a little while, I will shave, shower and dress for church. I will broadcast my Sunday school class at 9am and then sit to worship with my Pastor via Livestream. Yes, it feels different. It is not the same as when we were able to see one another, shake hands, encourage, and hug one another.

Can I encourage you today to prepare your heart to receive truth from God’s Word today? Let us take the time to search our hearts, confess and forsake our sin, and desire to hear something needful from the Preacher to whom we will listen.

Make that time special. Don’t let anything else intrude upon it. Turn off your phone (unless that is how you view the service). Sanctify the place you’ll watch the service.

Take some time to be quiet and meditate on the events that have taken place back when Jesus was on the earth. His death, burial and resurrection.

For those of us who have trusted Jesus Christ as our Savior, we know the significance of this day. But, can I ask you:

“Have you lost the emotion it evokes and the deep sense of thankfulness and gratitude we used to have?”

This day will come and go like all the others. In less than twenty four hours, it will be just another day in time.

For me, though, it is the apex of my life. God displayed His love not only for the world, but for me! He opened the door for me to go to Heaven and be with Him for all eternity.

Since last Sunday, our church has had a daily presentation that included a reading of God’s Word leading up to today’s celebration of the resurrection. You can find them here.

It is easy to allow this time to make us coldhearted and distant in our relationship with our God. We must set aside the time to praise and worship Him on purpose.

He is so deserving of our thanks and praise for what has been provided to us for our salvation.

Lastly, if you do not know Him or if you don’t know if you would go to Heaven if you died, click here to find out what the Bible has to say.

God loves you so very much!

Receive the very gift that His love provides for you and me!
