Saturday Morning Musings

Psalm 139:17-18 How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee.”

This morning I have joyous remembrances of days and times when God let me know He was there. Times when the devil tried to tell me that God didn’t love me, that He had left me, and didn’t want me anymore. In times like these, I found the book of Psalms such a comfort.

In particular, this particular Psalm spoke to my heart about the love of God, the heart of God, the providence of God, His sovereignty, and His power. These verses let me know that I am more than just a drop in the ocean to my God. His thoughts toward me outnumber the sand.

It reminds me of another passage.

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”

When we are pressed out of our comfort zone, weak, worn, and weary, Satan comes to try to divide, depress, and destroy our spirit. Then, the sweet Holy Spirit reminds me:

Philippians 1:6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:”

1 John 4:4 “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.”

Time to ourselves, time alone, time away from the church, loved ones, and familiar things can wear on our spirits. We must have a path back to Him.

The Word of God is the lamp unto our feet and the light onto our path. It keeps us from stumbling. It heals all our ills, it comforts us, strengthens us, and lifts us when we’ve fallen.

Today, consider the number of thoughts God has about you. You are significant and essential to Him. It was because of us He sent Jesus to die for our sins.

Oh, what a love!

Oh, what a Savior!

What a God!
