John 12:46 “I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.”
Feel like you are kept in the dark?
Is there a lack of information?
Does it seem others have the right information, and you are left to fight for yourself?
Many feel on the outside in business, cultures, and relationships. Many describe it as the ‘inner circle’ and everyone else.
As a saved child of God, you are already an ‘inner circle.’
Some feel kept in the dark about many things. Some will say their government is saying one thing and doing quite the opposite. Business decisions surprise the majority, but those on the ‘inside’ who make the decisions, already know.
We want to feel important enough or valued to be considered an ‘insider.’
Those involved in the stock market take an interest in ‘insider’ information. Some would desire to know everything about a person, situation, or circumstance. They want to be informed when, in reality, we want to control.
We want to control the outcome. We want to control the effects of our decisions or the decisions of others. So, how does one live in such an environment of uncertainty?
The same is true about God.
We want to know how this will all end. Will we have to suffer? What is the reason for all the suffering? If God is all-loving and all-powerful, why isn’t He able to stop the anarchy the seems to be rising throughout the world today?
Valid questions to be sure.
Often, we despair over things that God has already addressed in His Word. Take the question, “How will this all end?”
Revelation 20:11-15 “And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.”
The final judgment of this world will come. We can prepare for that day.
Jesus came to shed light on this dark world that we might see Him worthy of our trust.
He came to seek and to save that which was lost. His heart is that all should come for salvation.
2 Peter 3:9 “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”
God sheds light on the truth that will lead us to Him. That light is confirmed by the One who is to lead us into all truth.
Psalm 32:8 “I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.”
John 16:13 “Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.”
By placing our faith in Christ, we now have the Light within us. The Word of God is a light that guides our path.
Psalm 119:105 “NUN. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”
Jesus is the Light.
John 1:4-5 “In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.”
Recent events have shaken the faith of many. Our world seems to be coming apart at the seams. It is, at the very least unsettling, and for some, devastating. If we do not have the peace that comes from a close, personal relationship with God, we flounder in the darkness.
We can have a calm spirit, a focused approach to all situations, and circumstances that may come our way.
“God’s got this,” many will say. But, are they trying to convince themselves or us? Some will say that they are trusting God but cower in fear of recent events that they have no control over.
“Where is God in this pandemic?”
“Where is God during the rioting, looting, and violence?”
We could ask questions regarding the murdering of the unborn, the sex trade, the wars, genocide, and governmental corruption. All seemingly question God’s ability to stop what we see as an uncontrollable force.
That ‘force’ is sin. We see its fruit in the world today played out in so many ways. The light that needs to shine must first come to shine on us, His children.
We must show the world what difference Christ makes in us. He re-genes us to make alive the spirit within that was dead due to sin. He places within us the Holy Spirit of God to shed light on truth and expose error.
Much of the world is living in fear – more than ever before. The world needs what we, the children of God, possess. Life everlasting, a home in Heaven, adoption into God’s family, and a multitude of promises contained in His Word.
To be the light for the world, we must go where they live. To expect the world to come to us is lazy and disobedient.
Mark 16:15 “And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.”
Light, God’s Light, can overcome all darkness. We must be the torchbearer of that Light to all who are in need.
Today, ask God to bring about a divine appointment. It is that happenstance meeting with an individual that results in sharing the gospel with them. He knows the ones seeking and can guide their path to cross ours.
We must be ready to answer.
1 Peter 3:15-16 “But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear: Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ.”
