Ephesians 6:2-4 “Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;) That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth. And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.”
Happy Father’s Day to all this salutation applies.
Whether married with children, single, or a spiritual father to another, the commands apply to all.
Honor our fathers.
For some, there is a vacant place where Dad should be. For others, Dad struggled to fill his role, while others have beautiful memories of a father who provided, protected, mentored, and led his family.
Today, I am in company with those who have but memories left. My earthly father passed away, September of last year. The loss is still fresh, and I miss him more each day. Yet, there is a comfort knowing that one day, I will see him in Heaven.
I do not want to describe the ups and downs and the ins and outs of one man’s relationship with his father. But I do wish to challenge you, dear reader, that if you are a child of God, to look up and wish your Heavenly Father a Happy Father’s Day.
He, more than any earthly father, gave the ultimate sacrifice for those who He loved. He showed mercy to us when we deserved punishment. He gave gifts and grace, knowing we may never even thank Him.
If there ever was a father to be honored today, it is God the Father. He is deserving of all our praise, worship, thanksgiving, and every fiber of our being offered in service to Him.
Do not let the sun go down without spending some earnest, sincere, and genuine time alone praising and thanking our Father properly.
To all Fathers – Happy Father’s Day.
To You, my Heavenly Father, you deserve all praise, honor, glory, majesty, and worship from your children today and always!
I love you, Daddy!
