Job 28:28 “And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.”
Fear is so prevalent today.
Fear of an unseen virus. Fear of violence by those expressing their views regarding race, color, or creed. Fear of an unknown future. Fear of losing freedoms, liberties, and our ability to live in freedom.
Some live in fear of losing loved ones, broken relationships, and some who try to remove themselves from toxic people who seek their destruction. Some become so discouraged, they resolve that leaving this world is the only option left to them. It proves the scriptures:
Matthew 19:26 “But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.”
Without God, we are rudderless on a sea that will toss us to and fro. God brings calm to our chaos and peace to our problems. But without Him, we can do nothing.
John 15:5 “I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.”
The Book of Job appears many years before David and Solomon ever wrote the Book of Proverbs, but the truth of Job’s words echo in their writings.
Proverbs 1:7 “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.”
Proverbs 1:29 “For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD:”
When we heed wisdom’s words, we can receive His promise:
Proverbs 1:33 “But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.”
When we search for wisdom with our whole heart, we can receive promises in abundance.
Proverbs 2:5 “Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.”
Proper fear will give us a hate life.
Proverbs 8:13 “The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.”
Proper fear, fear of God, is what will bring about wisdom.
Proverbs 9:10 “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.”
There are many promises God gives when we fear God properly.
Proverbs 14:26-27 “In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge. The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.”
Proverbs 15:33 “The fear of the LORD is the instruction of wisdom; and before honour is humility.”
Proverbs 16:6 “By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil.”
Proverbs 19:23 “The fear of the LORD tendeth to life: and he that hath it shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil.”
I can understand that in fearing God only, I will be protected and provided. I will live longer and happier.
Fear can bring about action. Proper fear will bring what pleases God.
Proverbs 16:7 “When a man’s ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.”
Though the future here on earth is uncertain, I have peace because my eternal destiny is secure. Satan would love nothing more than for God’s people to panic and use worldly cures for what ails us.
God gave us the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, who will see that we have His utmost care.
Much of the world’s problems today are sin problems. Fear comes when we either look past or fail to look to God for the cure.
It is only God’s love that will cast out the fear that comes our way.
2 Timothy 1:7 “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”
1 John 4:18 “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.”
Take heart child of God; whatever the enemy will throw at us, is conquered by trusting His power, provision, and protection.
