Proverbs 23:26 “My son, give me thine heart, and let thine eyes observe my ways.”
To realize the God of the universe knows me and would take the time to speak to me is fantastic! That I merit any attention, let alone His love, protection, and provision is genuinely marvelous.
He asks that I give Him my heart that I may observe His ways.
The interaction within the relationship we have with our Savior is dependent on the faith we have in Him. We can acknowledge the relationship, but it is the part I play to make it interactive.
The fact that I am the purchased possession of my Father means I must abide by the desires of the One who paid the price for me.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 “What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.”
We give ourselves over to things every day.
I give in to my hunger.
I give in to my thirst.
I give in to watching a program lasting over two hours.
I give in to loving someone. Yet, we hesitate when asked to give in to the God of the universe.
When you and I give our hearts to God, we then find how God moves in and through us. The giving of the gospel is the highest calling to every child of God.
2 Corinthians 4:3-4 “But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.”
When our hearts are yielded and submitted to God, He directs us to do His will. It is God’s will all men saved.
2 Peter 3:9 “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”
We are to play a part in the sowing of the gospel seed.
Matthew 28:19-20 “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”
Acts 1:8 “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”
What hinders the giving over of our hearts to God?
We want control, and to allow anything or anyone to control us is risky. Many get hurt, allowing someone or something control.
God is so worthy of our trust. He has our best interest in mind. He seeks to reveal Himself to others through us. When we become willing participants in God’s plan for our lives, we get a front-row seat to miracles and answered prayer.
Today, allow God to speak through His appointed messenger. That may be a Pastor, preacher, teacher, or just a willing servant we meet randomly. Listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit. Obey what you hear, and you will begin to see the working of God in and through you.
