Matthew 18:14 “Even so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish.”
When we talk of the will of the Father, some think it a mysterious hidden, encrypted message available to those willing to hunt diligently. Or some believe it a revelation for the privileged few.
When we go to the Word of God, we find that His will is more apparent than we might think.
2 Peter 3:9 “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”
God made provision for us to be saved.
John 3:16-18 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”
He removed the ability for us to add to or subtract from the gift that He offers. Any work that we would do is a slap in our Heavenly Father’s face for the unique gift He offers in His Son.
Ephesians 2:8-9 “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”
Titus 3:4-7 “But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.”
It is never the will of God for any soul to go to Hell. Hell was a place reserved for the devil and the angels that followed him.
2 Peter 2:4 “For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment“
Jude 6 “And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.”
It is the heart of our Heavenly Father that once we saw the gift offered and the price given to pay, how could we resist so great a salvation?
Hebrews 2:3-4 “How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him; God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will?”
When it comes to our will, what is it that we truly desire? Is it to go alongside the Father to do His will? Is it to find a portion of His will to satisfy our duty or service?
Or is it enough for us to know ABOUT His will without ever having to DO His will?
As we begin this week, let us purpose to DO the will of the Father for today.
