Saturday Morning Musings

Leviticus 26:23-24 And if ye will not be reformed by me by these things, but will walk contrary unto me; Then will I also walk contrary unto you, and will punish you yet seven times for your sins.”

Many who think they know God think Him vindictive, harsh, and cruel.

Upon further investigation, we find they only know a little about Him; they do not honestly know Him.

Reading verses like today’s passage might lend us to think they are right. But we must utilize the whole of scripture to honestly know God.

The God of Israel revealed Himself to be their Liberator when they were in bondage. He showed Himself powerfully in the plagues He brought upon Egypt. Yet, the Israelites forgot and went after the things of the world instead of trusting God.

God is a perfect Judge.

His correction that came when the nation of Israel went their own way was excellent and right. That correction is meant to reshape us, reform us into the image of His dear Son.

When we kick and scream and want our own way, we are fighting a losing battle.

We try to infuse our wants and desires in God’s plan. It will be like mixing oil and water. It will look like they’re together only when shaken vigorously. In time we will separate once again.

God wants to transform us, not just reform us.

Our nature changed when we placed our faith in the Lord Jesus to save us. Our spirit was made alive, and we became indwelt by the Holy Spirit. God no longer deals with us as sinners in need of judgment but as children.

His way IS best. Our body, soul, and spirit were bought wholly at salvation. I am no longer in charge; God is.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.”

Taking that thought with us today, let us serve Him with our whole heart, mind, body, and soul!
